A Brief Introduction to Tunnel Museum
Tunnel Museum is the first domestic professional museum with tunnel and underground engineering as its theme, funded and built by China Railway Tunnel Group, a leading enterprise in the field of tunnel and underground engineering. It has a floor area of about 5500 square meters. Phase I of Tunnel Museum was completed and put into operation in April 2021, and Phase II is expected to be completed and open to the public in April 2024.
The museum mainly showcases key tunnel engineering projects such as the "Dayaoshan Tunnel" and the "Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Channel Immersed Tube Method Tunnel" and other internationally recognized tunnels, the breakthrough development of the tunnel industry, the work and life scenes of tunnel workers, as well as the spiritual and cultural aspects. It also displays physical objects and the birth processes of significant national equipment such as the "CREC No. 1" and the "Three-Arm Rock Drilling Rig", original stones from major tunnel projects, various operational tools from different stages, precious books, and thousands of other valuable collections. These vividly reflect the significant contributions and fruitful results made by tunnel construction enterprises in, construction, reform, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
The target audience of Tunnel Museum mainly includes local governments, partners, industry organizations, universities, research institutes, global tunnel and underground engineering units, experts and scholars, the general public, and students. Through basic exhibition areas, educational and scientific popularization areas, experiential and interactive areas, service operation areas, cultural and creative areas, and future tunnel exhibitions, as well as elements such as visual and audio effects, national equipment, and science fiction scenes, the museum aims to become a cognitive platform for the tunnel industry, a display window for tunnel enterprises, a medium for spreading tunnel brands, an integration carrier for tunnel culture, and a promotion platform for tunnel spirit.
Phase I of Tunnel Museum, covering an area of about 1000 square meters, was completed and put into operation in April 2021, which constitutes one-fifth of the entire museum's area of 5500 square meters. Since its operation, the museum has received over 800 batches of internal and external visitors, organized more than 100 events, and welcomed over 30,000 visitors. It has become an important exhibition platform showcasing the glorious history of China's tunnel construction.
In May 2022, after the joint selection of China Association for Science and Technology, The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other seven ministries and commissions, Tunnel Museum was successfully awarded the first batch of "Scientist Spiritual Education Base", and is the only recognized unit in the tunnel industry; the first batch of "Pioneer" cultural education base was awarded in June 2022 and in December 2023, it had got the title of the first batch of "China Civil Engineering Science Education Base" of China Civil Engineering Society in 2023-2027 again.
After the completion of phase II, more diverse and valuable collections from across the country and the world will be exhibited, making it a comprehensive venue integrating functions such as patriotism education, inheritance of red genes, integration of industry, academia, and research, and popularization of professional knowledge. It will also become a landmark building in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Nansha, Guangzhou.

2.If you have checked out of the hotel, your luggage can be stored at the hotel or taken on the bus, please ensure that your luggage is marked properly. After the visit ends, the bus will return to Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. Please remember to take all your personal items and luggage with you. Do not leave anything behind.
